MISS MARY’S SALTY DOG RECIPE

Looking for a recipe for the Salty Dog cocktail? Look no further.

This is a close relative to the Greyhound. The difference? Just a salt rim.
That’s it. Seems like a bit of fuss to consider them different drinks altogether, no? If you order a margarita,  you just say ‘Salt’ or ‘No Salt.’

Technically, the Salty Dog can be made with vodka OR gin, but we like gin for the Salty and vodka for the Greyhound. Maybe that’s just us?
Anyway… if you want to read a bit about the history of this cocktail, Liquor.com has an entertaining post.

INGREDIENTS

  • Coarse Kosher salt
  • 2 parts Miss Mary’s Paloma Mix
  • 1 part premium gin (or vodka)
  • Garnish Options: Lime or grapefruit wedge, rosemary sprig, mint leaves

INSTRUCTIONS

Rub a lime or grapefruit wedge around the rim of a lowball glass. Dip rim into dish or plate of coarse Kosher salt.  Add ice  to glass.

Combine spirit of choice and Miss Mary’s Paloma mix in a shaker with ice.  Shake and strain into glass.

Garnish with abandon and enjoy that fabulously retro cocktail, you hip cat.
